Find Voice in Scotland

A number of children and young people, ages 6 to 15, in Scotland are the first to benefit from a new university project to help them overcome speech sound disorders by enabling them to find their voices with unique ultrasound technology and clinical treatment methods.The £140,000 UltraPhonix project, funded by the Scottish Government Chief Scientist Office, is evaluating the effectiveness of using ultrasound as a visual biofeedback tool to help treat a range of speech sound disorders that have been unresponsive to traditional speech therapy methods.

Bring Hope to Timor-Leste

In May 2002, after 400 years of occupation and 25 years of civil war, Timor-Leste (East Timor) officially became an independent nation. Join speech pathologist Celina Lai as she travels to this tiny nation as part of a Cleft Lip and Palate Team Surgical Team.

Swallowing Awareness Day in Australia & the U.K.

Swallowing Awareness Day was held on 11 May to draw attention to swallowing disorders, known as dysphagia (dis-fay-juh). Swallowing disorders affect a person’s ability to safely swallow drinks, food, and medication. People who have trouble swallowing are at risk of poor nutrition and dehydration. Speech pathologists can assist individuals with dysphagia.

The 30th World Congress of the International Association of Logopedics and Phoniatrics (IALP) is fast approaching! It will take place in Dublin, Ireland, from August 21-25, 2016. The ICP will be exhibiting, as well as presenting 2 sessions about the work of the project. IALP is an ICP partner organisation. We hope to see you there!

The XXXIII World Congress of Audiology of the Canadian Academy of Audiology, and Speech-Language and Audiology Canada. The event will include pre-congress workshops, roundtable plenary sessions, featured concurrent sessions, contributed papers and sponsor symposia. All sessions will afford delegates the opportunity to engage, share and learn in a highly collaborative setting.
